Bridging the gap between established forms of inclusion and localization
presentation by Vân Anh Bach and Wolfgang Liebig
from 4:30 p.m. | Traditional concepts of accessible cinema are lacking acceptance from the audience as a whole. Instead, we developed a concept that actually focuses on inclusion rather than dividing the audience into what is considered ‘normal’ and ‘impaired’. Our audiobooks are versions of a movie that are meant to be enjoyable for everyone, without relying on any picture. We no longer only focus on the blind and visually-impaired, but on any information that the audience has to hear to not feel like there is something missing. Thus, our audiobooks open up new ways of distribution – by relying only on audio delivery. |
Vân Anh Bach (she/her) ...
... studied Translation at the University of Leipzig before pursuing a Master’s Degree at the same university in Conference Interpreting from which she graduated in 2019. Since then, she has been working as an editor, ensuring accessibility by creating both subtitles for the deaf and hard-of-hearing as well as writing audio descriptions for the blind and visually impaired.
Wolfgang Liebig ...
... graduated media and communication science and musicology in 2012 at Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg. Since then, he worked as an audio engineer and mixer on various international programs for cinema, VOD and television focusing mainly on dubbing and audio description.
