27th International Film Festival

for Children and Young Audience

8 – 15 OCT 2022

Lights off! Film on!

It is done! This year's SCHLiNGEL program is ready. In order to be prepared for all (Corona) eventualities this year, once again the entire cinema experience will be available in our five partner venues: in the CineStar & the Metropol, in the Stadthalle & the Clubkino Siegmar. Of course, the Astoria Filmpalast in Zwickau will also be involved again. Here we will start this year already a few days before the Chemnitz SCHLiNGEL. From October 5 to 7, you can not only enjoy brand new stories from all over the world, but also experience SCHLiNGEL award winners from last year.

A total of 159 short and feature films from 60 countries will be presented during the festival week, with 58 long and 72 short films competing for the coveted trophies in the competition categories Children's Film, Junior Film, Youth Film, Animated Film, Focus on Germany and Short Film. A further 23 productions will be screened in the Panorama section, which is not in competition.

Viewers of all ages can look forward to many new films that have been carefully selected by the SCHLiNGEL screening committee in recent months from a pool of over 1,600 films. This year, the country focus is on productions from Slovenia - three children's and youth films will celebrate their German premiere at the festival. In total, the 27th SCHLiNGEL will show four world premieres, eight international premieres, 48 German premieres as well as one international and one German cinema premiere.
