Uschi Reich again receives special honour

The laureate of the year 2008, Uschi Reich, has been awarded in the context of the “New Faces Award” ceremony by the German magazine “Bunte”. In the category film, she was given a special award for the youth film trilogy “Wild Chicks”. By honouring her, the jury appreciated the long lasting success of the film series. No more than six month ago the most successful producer of children’s and youth films in Germany received a special award during the 13th edition of the International Film Festival “SCHLINGEL”. Every year the so-called “Ehrenschlingel” is presented for special achievements in the range of child and youth film.

Having honoured Uschi Reich’s work ourselves and the credit given to her by so many others again shows the high quality of the Film Festival “SCHLINGEL” and its competition films. Among other things the professionalism concerning the selection of the films, the careful jury work as well as the independent decisions about the winners play an outstanding role. Thus – for example – in 2007 and 2008 the responsible persons awarded the later winners of the Adolf Grimme Award “On The Border“ and “Outta Control, You Can Never Be Sure” with the DEFA Foundation Award.

The 14th edition of the International Film Festival for Children and Young Audience “SCHLINGEL” will take place from 5 to 11 October 2009 in Chemnitz/Saxony. The organiser is the association “Saechsischer Kinder- und Jugendfilmdienst e.V.” (Saxon Service for Children’s and Youth Films). “SCHLINGEL” is a stage for international children’s and youth films in Germany. Every year in October the festival shows an overview of current international productions from all over the world. The prizes have a total value of 25,000 Euros. Last year 81 movies from 36 countries of the whole world were shown.
