SCHLINGEL presented children’s films in Hanoi
For the first time a German film festival has been organised by the Goethe-Institut Hanoi together with the International Film Festival for Children and Young Audience SCHLINGEL. On the occasion of International Children’s Day on June 1 the festival at Hanoi’s Kim Dong Cinema in Hanoi / Vietnam was held from May 25 to May 28, 2017.
The festival screened six selected films – all in German language with Vietnamese and English subtitles. Additional to this free film activities and workshops to reflect on the films and to inspire the participants to express their views were provided.
As special guests, the German filmmakers Florian Gaag (“LenaLove”), Alexandra Prochazka (“At Eye Level”) and Neele Vollmar (“Pasta Detectives 3”) as well as the two representatives of SCHLINGEL Film Festival, director Michael Harbauer with project coordinator Leona Söhnholz, were welcomed.
The main objective of these international activities is the promotion of German children’s and youth film productions abroad. SCHLINGEL thus aims to increase the young audiences’ interest in the German language and, moreover, the country’s history, culture, traditions and life of young people. Q&As complement the screenings and allow for intensive exchange. At the same time, SCHLINGEL is constantly expanding its worldwide network and tries to enthuse international filmmakers to come to Chemnitz. SCHLINGEL’s presentations abroad are kindly supported by Sächsische Staatskanzlei, Mitteldeutsche Medienförderung (MDM) and German Films.
The 22nd edition of the International Film Festival SCHLINGEL takes place from 25 September to 1 October 2017 in Chemnitz. Last year 181 international productions from 54 countries have been screened - most of them for the first time in Germany. Therefore, the festival is considered as Germany’s largest platform for this genre.
