SCHLiNGEL brings six German films to the anniversary edition of Shum Bola
Outside our own festival week, we always take German films to countries around the globe. And so six German productions are currently travelling to Uzbekistan to present the programme of the 10th Shum Bola. Actor Luis Vorbach and producer Nicole Kellerhals are also there.
The Goethe-Institut in Uzbekistan has been organising the Shum Bola film festival for children and young audiences for ten years. The name of the festival has a lot in common with the SCHLiNGEL Film Festival, because "Shum Bola" is Uzbek and means "Schlingel". The anniversary edition was prepared in cooperation with us and with the support of the Austrian and Swiss embassies as well as the Youth Union in Uzbekistan. From 2 to 4 May, six German films for children and young people will be shown on the big screen in Tashkent and Nukus.
The little film fans in Uzbekistan can look forward to the German-Austrian co-production TALES OF FRANZ, SCHOOL OF MAGICAL ANIMALS 2, the German-Dutch production LUCY WANTED, THE ROBBER HOTZENPLOTZ, THE LITTLE WITCH and ALFONS JITTERBITT - CLASS TRIP CHAOS. To present his films ALFONS JITTERBITT and THE LITTLE WITCH and to exchange ideas with the local audience, actor Luis Vorbach is there, as well as Nicole Kellerhals, producer of ALFONS JITTERBITT. In addition, our festival director Michael Harbauer will accompany the productions.
The German films will be shown in the original language with Russian subtitles or, if available, in Uzbek and Karakalpak dubbed versions. The presentation of the German films by the SCHLiNGEL in Uzbekistan is financially supported by the Saxon State Chancellery, the Mitteldeutsche Medienförderung (MDM) and German Films.
