SCHLiNGEL travels to South Korea
Our 28th SCHLiNGEL is getting closer and closer to its start on 23 September 2023. But before the "hot phase" begins, we will travel to South Korea once again to the Busan International Kids & Youth Film Festival (BIKY) to accompany German films to the other side of the world. Till Endemann, director of LUCY WANTED, will also be there to present his film to the South Korean audience.
It has become a tradition for us to travel abroad with German films outside our own festival season. And so our festival director Michael Harbauer is currently in South Korea, where the BIKY is taking place from 10 to 16 July. He has the German-Dutch co-production LUCY WANTED and the German-Austrian co-production TALES OF FRANZ in his luggage. ALFONS JITTERBIT - CLASS TRIP CHAOS is also part of the BIKY programme. In addition, the director of LUCY WANTED, Till Endemann, is also in Busan to exchange ideas with the young audience and to find out first-hand how his film is received abroad.
As at the SCHLiNGEL in Chemnitz, productions are awarded prizes at the BIKY. Michael Harbauer is part of an international jury that awards the Heart-On-Award after viewing numerous films. Together with Etusko Dohi (Japan), Gert Hermans (Belgium), Firdoze Bulbulia (South Africa) and Lee Hyun-Jung (South Korea), he honours one short film and one feature film. The Busan Film Festival is already in its 18th edition this year and has established itself as one of the largest film festivals for young audiences in Asia. In addition to screening films, the team is always working to develop experiential and educational activities that incorporate the medium of film.
The presentation of German films abroad is financially supported by the Mitteldeutsche Medienförderung and the Saxon State Chancellery.
