The scheduling of the 18th edition of the International Film Festival for Children and Young Audiences SCHLINGEL, starting on 14 October 2013, is in progress. Currently the Selection Committee is arranging this year’s festival programme which is shown at the CineStar movie theater. The director of the festival and his team can choose among 700 productions from 71 countries, e.g. China, Saudi Arabia or Venezuela. More than 100 films are exclusively screened, most of them are German premieres.

The festival will be opened by the German production THE LITTLE GHOST which is even a world premiere. The film is based on a children’s book by the late Otfried Preußler and tells the story of a little ghost that lives in the castle Eulenstein. His burning desire is to discover the world at daylight. The production team will be on site and is looking forward to present the film.
Up to now there are more than 4000 reservations, especially from regional schools. Tickets are available for 4 Euros and can be used as tickets for the local traffic as well.

SCHLINGEL is an independent film festival with an international competition and a varied supporting programme. Last year more than 12.000 visitors came to Chemnitz and watched 103 films from 36 countries. Organiser of the festival is the “Sächsischer Kinder- und Jugendfilmdienst e.V. Chemnitz“. Co-organizer is the Saxon State Agency for Private Broadcasting and New Media (SLM). Patron of the Festival is Stanislav Tillich, Minister President of the Free State of Saxony.
