The Short History of the Long Road
Original title: The Short History of the Long Road
German title: The Short History of the Long Road
Nola and her father Clint lead an independent and carefree life as modern nomads. They tour across the south of the USA in their restored caravan nicknamed “Hulk”. Clint keeps the family of two afloat with odd jobs, and they do not take the law too seriously. They clean their clothes in car washes, the girl acquires school knowledge herself and learns from her father how to repair cars. When Nola is suddenly on her own after a stroke of fate, an odyssey begins. At first, she searches for the bar her father used to run – but to no avail. The home that caring Marcie initially gives her is not a lasting perspective for her either. Completely disoriented and unstable, she longs for a home, a place where she belongs. Only when her car breaks down and she meets the mechanic Miguel and the quiet teenager Blue does she have a clear goal in mind: to find her mother, about whom she knows nothing except her first name.
