Original title: Han Nyeohaksaengeui Ilgi
German title: Erinnerungen einer Schülerin
Soo-ryun is a normal teenager. She lives with her younger sister Su-ok, her mother Jeong Lief and her grandmother in a small house on the outskirts of Pyongyang. Her mother has a day job as a librarian. She spends her evenings and nights with scientific translation work for her husband San myong. Su-ok absolutely wants to become the new rising soccer star. All of them apparently have come to terms with their lives. Only Soo-ryun would rather live in a newly built apartment with her father. He is never there. He works as a development engineer at a factory and has rented a room near his workplace. His family sees him rarely and if they do, only for a few hours. But then the mother falls so seriously ill that she has to be hospitalized. Soo-ryun hopes her father will return home to visit her mother and care for herself and her sister. But far from it. Soo-ryun hates her father for it and never wants to be like him.
