Jamie, who is deaf, is having a hard time adjusting to the boarding school for deaf children. The thirteen-year-old misses her parents and her sister. The daily video calls with her grandmother in Paris are her only support. But then she receives the message that her grandmother had a serious fall, was badly injured and taken to hospital. Her family are already on their way to France, without Jamie. The girl is to stay at the boarding school for the weekend. Hesitantly, Jamie confides in her new classmate Imane. Imane immediately encourages Jamie to visit her grandmother. Together, the girls steal away from school and set off for Paris. But the trip holds some challenges for two deaf girls. Losing their money, discrimination by pushy teenagers and an aggressive clown in a pickup truck are just some of the stumbling blocks they encounter on their journey. However, the harder the circumstances, the stronger the girls’ friendship blossoms. A punk concert shows them that a trip into the unknown may still hold some positive surprises.
