Lucie is ingenious, has an overwhelming imagination and writes dark stories full of gloomy details. At school, the fourteen-year-old is considered an outsider. She lives with her father William in Chelles, a small town in France. William suffers from multiple sclerosis. His hands are always trembling. He keeps the symptoms in check by using cannabis. Lucie takes care of the household and works in a sandwich shop after school. Nonetheless, father and daughter maintain a very loving relationship, especially since Lucie’s mother was killed in a motorbike accident. When her crush Etienne knocks on the door, Lucie can hardly believe her luck. But Etienne only asks her to fake an intimate relationship with him to disprove the rumour that he is gay. He also wants to attract the attention of Stéphanie, with whom he is in love. In return, he offers Lucie a small supply of cannabis, which her father can put to good use. Despite some reservations, Lucie agrees. The prospect of Etienne’s closeness is too tempting. Then a social worker announces a visit to assess Lucie’s housing situation.
