German title: Yuni
Most of the girls in her class know no other topic of conversation than becoming wives soon. The Muslim-run school makes every effort to ensure that the young women remain demure, even tests to confirm their virginity are to be introduced. Yuni does not care about all that, she is headstrong and wants to have fun. She would also like to study, but in order to get a highly coveted scholarship, she has to have first-class grades in all subjects and be unmarried. Her grades are very good, except for those in literature classes, as she simply does not understand poetry. Shy Yoga, who has secret feelings for Yuni, helps her. An even bigger problem for her is to remain unmarried. Her family, especially her grandmother, is already on the lookout for suitable candidates. Yuni soon receives her first proposal from a man she hardly knows and does not love. She refuses. The second one soon follows. She becomes common talk because it is said to bring bad luck if a woman also refuses her second proposal. Finally, a third one follows, and she realises that her world has become too small for her dreams.
