Parangaricutirimicuaro. Anyone who utters this formula while looking at a picture with a squint is drawn into it. As a young girl, Nino’s mother knew a boy named Pablo who disappeared one day. Later she discovered him in one of his pictures. She kept the painting and watched Pablo grow up over the years. Now she warns her son. It is easy to enter a painting, but leaving it again is a bigger problem. Nino suddenly finds himself in Pablo’s painting. He asks Pablo for help, but he puts him in prison. Through the bars, Nino looks at a screen. The magic words allow him to enter the world of the video. A war is going on here. Together with a girl named Dina from the village, Nino escapes into a drawing that he hastily scribbles in the sand. From then on, Nino and Dina travel through a labyrinth of postcards, dreams and photographs. Each picture leads them to a different world. Finally, they are stranded on a tropical volcanic island from where all pictures have been banished. Desperate, Nino is looking for a way out, because a volcanic eruption is imminent.
