That Night's Train
Original title: Ghatare An Shab
German title: Der Nachtzug
Five-year-old half-orphan Banafsheh grows up with her father and her elderly grandmother, who is unable to cope with the lively girl. On a train ride they meet a young teacher who immediately takes the girl into her heart and calms her down. She enchants the girl with stories and her hand puppet. At the end of the journey she promises Banafsheh to call and visit her as soon as possible. The teacher tells her students about the encounter and gives them the opportunity to develop the story in their own imagination. She thereby collects new ideas for a book. Reality and fiction seem to merge. After waiting impatiently, Banfasheh sets off with her friends and her father to search for the teacher. In the process, the little girl gets closer to her father again, who is just as lonely as she is. She realises that she has long since found what she is looking for: love.
