Additional Information

John grows up in an environment full of violent white racists. He spends most of his childhood in a juvenile detention centre and even there, he attracts negative attention time and again. His youth welfare officer does not give up hope and finds a couple who want to take the boy in. When John meets Eldridge and MaryAnna Buultjens, it turns out that his new father is black. Little by little the family is growing together. With Eldridge’s help, John overcomes his indoctrinated racist views and learns to trust. The boy also faces new challenges at school. His classmate and new ally Sherrie and his foster father Eldridge help him to discover a new passion: BMX riding. John is talented and trains hard to compete for his team. But his past is catching up with him faster than expected.
