SCHLiNGEL as a guest in Goa
The new year has barely begun and we are already travelling again with German films. This time we are taking four productions to Goa (India) where the International Children's Film Festival Bulbul (BCIFF) has been taking place for the first time since January 9. Our festival director Michael Harbauer is also travelling to India as part of an expert jury and to present the German films to the local audience.
Every year, we bring films from all over the world to the big screen in Chemnitz. Conversely, we also take German productions to other international film festivals. And so the former SCHLiNGEL films DOUBLE TROUBLE AND THE MAGICAL MIRROR, AT EYE LEVEL and MY FRIEND RAFFI as well as HEIDI are currently part of the programme in India. The Bulbul Children's International Film Festival Goa will be held there for the first time from 9 to 13 January. In addition to the screening of films and the awarding of a total of seven prizes in the feature and short film categories, the festival also offers a colourful programme for its young audience. Among other things, there will be a film-making competition and a Bollywood-style dance competition.
"We are delighted to be able to support a festival dedicated to the world of children's film in its early stages and are very excited to see how our German films will be received by this new audience," says Michael Harbauer in the run-up to the festival. In addition to accompanying the German films at their screenings in Goa, he is also part of the Bulbul short film jury and will speak on a panel on the topic of international children's film.
The presentation of the German films in Goa is financially supported by the Saxon State Chancellery and the Mitteldeutsche Medienförderung (MDM). The screening of AT EYE LEVEL and MY FRIEND RAFFI is also being organised in cooperation with the Goethe-Institut.
