SCHLiNGEL travels with nine German productions
We are currently travelling abroad again with German films. This time, the journey takes us to New Delhi, where the International Children's and Youth Film Festival SMILE (SIFFCY) has been taking place for the tenth time since 9 April. Lars Montag, director of DREAMS ARE LIKE WILD TIGERS, and SCHLiNGEL festival director Michael Harbauer will also be in India to present the productions to the young audience there.
There has been an intensive, friendly partnership between SIFFCY and SCHLiNGEL since 2019. In this way, national films are always included in the programme of the respective partner festival, as is the case with the 10th edition of SIFFCY, which is currently taking place in New Delhi from 9 to 15 April. The festival was officially opened by Johannes Höber, Head of the Cultural Department of the German Embassy in New Delhi, and the German film THABO AND THE RHINO CASE was screened.
In addition, SCHLiNGEL presented the films DREAMS ARE LIKE WILD TIGERS, THE FLYING CLASSROOM, the German-Austrian co-production NEW TALES OF FRANZ and, as part of the international competition, the Asian premiere of WEEKEND REBELS on the big screen in India. Director Lars Montag will also be in New Delhi to present his production DREAMS ARE LIKE WILD TIGERS to the local audience and to answer questions from young viewers.
The four short films DAILY TALES PART ONE - THE MAGNIFICENT BEAUTY OF A TRAIN RIDE, DESERT GRITTER, MASTERPAINTER ERNST and SEAWEED are also part of the SIFFCY programme.
"We have been working closely with SIFFCY director Jitendra Mishra and his team for many years now and are delighted to see how the film festival, the largest of its kind in India, is now celebrating its tenth edition. We are all the more pleased that such a large number of German films are once again represented in the programme for the anniversary and this speaks for the quality of German cinema," says Michael Harbauer in the run-up to the festival. He is also on site in India to accompany the screenings of the German productions and is part of the ECFA jury for this year's SIFFCY.
The presentation of the German films as part of SCHLiNGEL International is financially supported by the Mitteldeutsche Medienförderung MDM and the Saxon State Chancellery.
