After Asian premiere: WEEKEND REBELS receives several awards in India
The SMILE Children's and Youth Film Festival (SIFFCY) is currently taking place in New Delhi. Presented by SCHLiNGEL, the popular film WEEKEND REBELS by director Marc Rothemund celebrated its Asian premiere in front of many enthusiastic young viewers. To present the film, SCHLiNGEL director Michael Harbauer was in India himself for the premiere.
At today's SIFFCY awards ceremony, WEEKEND REBELS was honoured with several prizes. The expert jury chose the German film starring Florian David Fitz and Cecilio Andresen as the Best Feature Film in the Children's section and presented it with the Best Story Award, among others. Marc Rothemund was also honoured as Best Director.
From 9 to 15 April, WEEKEND REBELS can be seen together with eight other German productions as part of the SCHLiNGEL International project at SIFFCY in India. We at SCHLiNGEL regularly travel to other international film festivals with German-language films - supported by the Saxon State Chancellery and the Mitteldeutsche Medienförderung MDM. The aim is to popularise German-language films abroad, mainly in intercontinental countries, and to make them accessible to a new audience. As a rule, German filmmakers often travel to the festivals together with the SCHLiNGEL to present their productions to regional audiences in person.
