Eight-year-old Sammy is very attached to his hamster Raffi. The animal is not only a farewell gift from his father, who now “fulfils himself” in Afghanistan as a doctor; Raffi is just very special. He can score goals like a pro and make Sammy laugh. When the little animal undergoes a heart surgery and has to be cared for at home, something terrible happens: In the middle of Hamburg, Sammy's mother’s car is stolen, together with the cage and the sleeping hamster in it! However, no one in the family has a sympathetic ear for Sammy urging that everything, absolutely everything must be done to save the hamster. His mother is overwhelmed with her new job and everyday life, his older sister Molly is only occupied with her new boyfriend and her appearance. So Sammy sets out all alone on his bike to find his beloved Raffi in the big city. He gets into some dangerous situations and in the way of a gangster, who wants to make money out of the talented hamster.
