Daughter of Rage

Eleven-year-old María lives with her mother Lilibeth on the edge of a huge rubbish dump in Nicaragua, where the two of them collect stinking rubbish and raise the puppies of their bitch. Selling them is supposed to secure their own survival. But due to unfortunate circumstances, the puppies already sold die, which is why the deal falls through and Lilibeth finds herself in danger. To protect her daughter, she takes her to friends. Raúl and Rosa run a recycling plant and offer children like María a home. In return, however, the people hiding there have to work hard. After initial friction, a friendship develops between María and the boy Tadeo. Even when Lilibeth’s promised return fails to materialise for longer than expected, her daughter does not lose her will to be reunited with her mother. But there is growing unrest in the streets. Because of the heated riots, María worries about Lilibeth. All alone, the girl sets out to find her, while Tadeo helps his friend to leave the compound.
