After his parents split up, ten-year-old Finn commutes back and forth between his father Volkan in Neustrelitz and his mother in Berlin. This is quite stressful, especially as his father has his hands full with his new catering firm. That is why the planned canoe trip has to be cancelled and Finn has to go back to his mother. In spite of her protests, Volkan puts his son on the train. As if that wasn’t enough, Finn’s backpack is stolen, along with his mobile phone, money and ticket. Only the pushy guy with the beer could have done it. But the conductor does not believe Finn and hands him over to the police. On their way to the police station, the police car is hit by a Polish delivery van. While the police and the driver are negotiating, twelve-year-old Jola suddenly appears in front of Finn. Jola is supposed to spend her holidays with her annoying grandmother in Poland. She does not want that at all, so she persuades Finn to run away with her. Nobody will miss her, after all, and being on bread and water in a padded cell is not that great either. Their destination is the sea. But first they have to catch the thief from the train.
