Jordan and Patrick are bored to death in their small village in the south of France. The two fourteen-year-olds escape the rural solitude by playing the computer game “Call of Duty”. Then Jessica – their beloved PlayStation 4 – surprisingly gives up the ghost. In order to afford a new console, the teenagers develop a perfidious plan: Jordan pretends to have cancer and, baldheaded, starts an online appeal for donations. The initial doubts are quickly dispelled by the steadily growing proceeds and their increasing popularity at school. The former outsiders suddenly enjoy unexpected attention and privileges that result in new friends, long-awaited party invitations and lots of money. While Jordan can skip school, Patrick gets closer to the hottest girl in school. Some of their classmates even shave their heads in sympathy, forming an anti-hair alliance entirely at Jordan’s and Patrick’s service. On the wave of success, however, the two best friends increasingly lose sight of reality – with tragic consequences for their friendship.
