Anni has just moved with her family to Groß-Hottendorf in the countryside and dreams of finally getting her own horse. This is what her parents had promised her. But now the garden centre has to get going first; Anniʼs wish may come true only afterwards. As if that were not enough, she is bullied by annoying Pia at school. Only Lorenz, who lives on his uncleʼs horse farm, stands by her and introduces her to working with animals. When everything becomes too much for Anni once again and even Lorenz cannot comfort her, she flees into the nearby forest. In a clearing, a wild horse with a heart-shaped blaze suddenly stands in front of her. It looks exactly the way Anni has always drawn her favourite horse in her comics. The two immediately feel a deep, almost magical connection to each other. Anni calls the horse Pony Heart and visits it in the forest as often as possible. But then horse thieves appear in the area and want to steal and sell the herd Pony Heart belongs to. Together with Lorenz, Anni has to come up with something to put a stop to the crooks.
