Grußworte Welcoming addresses

Herzlich Willkommen zur bereits 28. Edition des SCHLiNGEL! Traditionell in der Woche vor den
sächsischen Herbstferien lädt SCHLiNGEL zur filmischen Reise rund um den Globus ein. Insgesamt
171 Filme aus 54 Ländern schlagen Brücken und verknüpfen Kulturen und Gesellschaften. Neben
Ausflügen in die Nachbarländer gibt es auch Aufenthalte im Fernen Osten, Afrika, den USA oder
Lateinamerika. In diesem Jahr widmet SCHLiNGEL der Provinz Québec in Kanada einen besonderen
Fokus. Mit einer Einwohnerzahl von gerade einmal 8,5 Millionen Menschen, ist die Anzahl an
Produktionen, die in den letzten Jahren in der Provinz entstanden sind, mehr als bemerkenswert.
Acht lange und ein kurzer Film werden in diesem Rahmen im Programm gezeigt. Weitere Produk-
tion in Vorbereitung oder kurz vor dem Abschluss der Arbeiten werden im Rahmen des SCHLiNGEL
IndustryForums vorstellt.

Ein großer Dank gebührt an dieser Stelle im Namen des gesamten Festivals unserem Mitver-
anstalter, der Sächsischen Landesanstalt für privaten Rundfunk und neue Medien (SLM). Zudem
danke ich sämtlichen Förderern und Sponsoren, die zum Teil seit vielen Jahren fest an unserer Seite
stehen oder uns mit neuer Kraft unterstützen. Ohne diese herausragende Unterstützung, von
institutioneller wie auch von privatwirtschaftlicher Seite, wäre unser SCHLiNGEL Filmfestival, wie Michael Harbauer
wir es kennen, nicht möglich.
Festivaldirektor
Wir freuen uns, mit acht Welturaufführungen, neun internationalen sowie zwei europäischen und 56 Festival Director
deutschen Erstaufführungen ein hochaktuelles und vielfältiges Programm präsentieren zu können.
Begleitet werden die Produktionen in vielen Fällen von den Menschen, die hinter dem Film stehen
bzw. für ihn vor der Kamera standen. In diesem Sinne möchte ich alle internationalen und nati-
onalen Film- und Fachgäste in Chemnitz willkommen heißen und wünsche allen eine bereichernde
Festivalwoche mit vielen Höhenpunkten, nachhaltigen Gesprächen sowie unvergesslichen Erleb-
nissen im Kinosaal und auch außerhalb!

Welcome to the 28th SCHLiNGEL edition! Traditionally in the week before the Saxon autumn
holidays, SCHLiNGEL invites you to go on a cinematic journey around the globe. A total of 171 films
from 54 countries build bridges and forge links between various cultures and societies. In addition
to excursions to neighbouring countries, there are also stops in the Far East, Africa, the USA or Latin
America. This year, SCHLiNGEL is devoting a special focus to the Canadian province of Québec.
Compared to a population of just 8.5 million people, the number of productions that have been
made in this province in recent years is more than remarkable. Eight features and one short film
will be screened in the programme. Other productions in progress or nearing completion will be
presented at the SCHLiNGEL IndustryForum.

On behalf of the entire festival, I would like to take this opportunity to thank our co-organiser, the
Sächsische Landesanstalt für privaten Rundfunk und neue Medien (SLM). I would also like to thank
all our patrons and sponsors, some of whom have stood firmly by our side for many years, others
support us with new vigour. Without this outstanding support, both institutional and private, our
SCHLiNGEL Film Festival as we know it would not be possible.
We are pleased to present a highly topical and diverse programme with eight world premieres,
nine international, two European and 56 German premieres. In many cases, the productions are
accompanied by the people behind the films or by some of those who stood in front of the camera.
With this in mind, I would like to welcome all international and national film guests and experts to
Chemnitz. I wish all of you an enriching festival week with many highlights, lasting conversations
and unforgettable experience both inside and outside the cinema halls.
