Das bewegte Bild ist das Leitmedium unserer Zeit. Die Faszination für den Film und das Kino wird
oft schon in jungen Jahren geweckt und begleitet uns meist ein Leben lang. Es ist immer wieder ein
besonderes Erlebnis, mit anderen im Kino zu sitzen, zusammen mit ihnen zu lachen, mitzufiebern
und die Abenteuer auf der Leinwand gemeinsam zu erleben. Darauf dürfen sich auch in diesem Jahr
tausende kleine und große Filmfans freuen, wenn der SCHLiNGEL erneut ein vielfältiges und erst-
klassiges Kinoprogramm mit Filmen aus aller Welt präsentiert. Kunst darf und sollte mit Gewohn-
heiten und Erwartungshaltungen brechen. Ebenso wie wir Erwachsenen haben auch Kinder ein
Recht auf filmische Vielfalt. Im vergangenen Jahr konnte das Festival Besucherinnen und Besucher
mit ganzen 159 Produktionen aus 60 Ländern begeistern.

In unserem Alltag ist die Vielfalt an Kulturen, Hintergründen und Lebenserfahrungen heute wohl
größer denn je zuvor. Deshalb ist es wichtig, dass Filme diese Vielfalt widerspiegeln und dazu
beitragen, dass sich unsere Kinder in der Welt zuhause fühlen. Filme sind ein kraftvolles Medium,
um Kindern neue Perspektiven aufzuzeigen, ihre Vorstel¬lungskraft zu erweitern und ihnen über
Freundschaft, Toleranz und Mitgefühl zu erzählen. Ich danke dem engagierten Festivalteam und
wünsche den zahlreichen Besucherinnen und Besuchern anregende Festivaltage und viele unver- Claudia Roth

Children have as much right to diverse cinema as us adults do. Last year, the festival thrilled visitors
with as many as 159 productions from 60 countries.

The cultures, backgrounds and life experiences we encounter in our daily lives are more diverse
than ever before. That is why it is important that films reflect this diversity and help our children
feel at home in the world. Films are a powerful medium for showing children new perspectives,
for expanding their imagination and for teaching them about friendship, tolerance and empathy. I
would like to thank the hard-working festival team and I hope that the festival’s many visitors leave
feeling inspired and take home an abundance of unforgettable cinematic experiences.
