21st International Film Festival

26 SEP - 2 OCT 2016 in Chemnitz

for Children and Young Audience

See you in September!

This year's festival already casts most promosing shadows

In just a few months the international children and youth film scene as well as thousands of cineasts from the region will meet in Chemnitz again at the 21st edition of the International Film Festival SCHLINGEL taking place at the CineStar in the Galerie Roter Turm. As usual, the programme is very extensive – more than 150 recent productions from around the world are waiting to be discovered and marvelled. Therefore the festival is considered as Germany’s largest platform for this genre.

The protagonists take the audience on trips to foreign countries to talk about their live circumstances and cultures. As all films are shown in their native language, it seemed that the interest in other cultures and foreign languages arouse almost additionally. A live translation, which takes place in the cinema hall, also contributes to the special atmosphere of the festival. Film teams present their films and tell lots of background information as well as exciting anecdotes of the film world. At the end of the festival professional and children’s juries select the best productions out of the six competitions.

Different workshops offer the opportunity for children and young people to become active themselves and to practice their skills in film reception, analysis or production. Professionals can discuss current trends after various interesting presentations and panels. Another aim of the festival is to reach editors, distributors and cinema operators to promote and support the films after the festival. Furthermore SCHLINGEL would like to popularise German productions abroad. This continuous work pays off in SCHLINGEL presentations in Canada, China, Israel, Japan, Russia or Uzbekistan.

We are already looking forward to an exciting film autumn!
