King Laurin
Original title: König Laurin
German title: König Laurin
16-year-old Theo, heir to the throne, lives in a kingdom where plants are prohibited. He has a big problem: he is much too small and slender for his age. His father Dietrich, however, wants nothing more for his son than to become a great conqueror. To meet these expectations, Theo takes on all sorts of exertions. But the daily procedure on the stretching bank and regular training sessions for strengthening his muscles do not have the desired effect. His father is little interested in the fact that, on the other hand, Theo is very smart and has a special power of deduction. Just as he turns a deaf ear to his people, who have been extremely poor since the dwarves were banished from the kingdom and therefore no more plants grow in the country. One day Theo has an accident in the mountains and is rescued by Laurin the dwarf king who keeps hiding there. In return the boy is to collect the innumerable snails that ruin Laurin’s small garden. Thus begins a friendship that makes Theo see what is going wrong in the kingdom, and that helps him to comply with his own desires and dreams.
