The Songbirds' Secret
Nine-year-old Lucie spends her summer holidays with her mother Caro in Bectoile. Caro grew up in the area but moved away as a child after a fire. Upon her arrival, Lucie finds an injured badger, which she takes home to lovingly nurse back to health. On a farm surrounded by woods and fields, she quickly befriends Yann, the neighbours’ grandson. While she curiously and courageously explores her new surroundings, her mother, a leading archaeologist, is working with her colleague Pierrot to uncover a crypt beneath the old castle ruins. Lucie sometimes gets very angry that her mother is often busy with her work. At the same time, she notices that Caro finds it difficult to talk about her experiences in the past. During her daring excursions and with Yann’s help, Lucie uncovers more and more secrets – a fire that changed many things, the legend of the treasure under the castle, a mysterious wizard in the forest and blue tits that guide the two of them through their summer adventure.
