Elvis Starling
Elvis has been adept at chemical reactions since primary school. But how do you bring individual family members back together? When his parents separate and his father moves out, Elvis’s life spirals out of control. He is bullied at school, the girl of his dreams is taken, and his mother is pregnant again. Elvis stumbles from one faux pas to the next. He resolves difficult situations in a chemical way. An argument is ended with a cloud of smoke and paraffin provides light in a dark cave. His teacher sees Elvis’ potential and enters him for a chemistry competition. When the boy discovers that this teacher is his mother’s new partner, he wants to give up everything. Only when his father encourages him to take part in the competition and shape his own life does the tide turn. Elvis passes the competition with flying colours. His new self-confidence is also noticed by Klara, who is interested in chemistry. Together with another friend, they form a strong team and welcome the newborn baby into Elvis’s patchwork family.
