Winter, 1944. Since the German occupation of the Bohemian Sudetenland, the lives of Jíra and Jochen, two friends living in the border region, have changed. Jíra and his Czech family live under German occupation, while his German friend lives in the „Third Reich“. When the two boys secretly meet to go skiing, they make a terrifying discovery. In the snow, they encounter Pierre, a Black French pilot who crashed while fighting the German forces. Without hesitation, they hide the seriously injured man from the Nazis in Jíra’s family home. When it becomes clear that the village doctor cannot help the stranger, Jíra’s sister Anka leaves no stone unturned to organise Pierre’s escape to the nearest hospital. A secret logistical network of helpers and resistance fighters is established. While German fighter planes commanded by ruthless Captain Gollwitz search for their enemy, Jíra, Jochen and a handful of like-minded people embark on a dangerous journey to rescue the Frenchman.
