Molly O’Brien is an award-winning sports journalist who leads a hectic life that takes its toll not only on her, but also on her family. Her demanding career means that she constantly misses important events in her children’s lives. However, an unexpected phone call about the death of her close childhood friend Danny Trillo throws her completely off track. Molly returns to her hometown of Pittsburgh to attend the funeral. During her stay, she begins to reflect on a special year of her youth when she and Danny developed a close friendship. Their shared passion for baseball, the Pittsburgh Pirates and the player Roberto Clemente shaped this time. Molly recalls the carefree nature of her childhood and the values her father instilled in her, particularly the importance of kindness and compassion towards others. Between twinges of loss and nostalgia, Molly learns how childhood memories can influence adult life.
