Bird Boy

August, an orphaned boy, has to move again. But this time, things are better. His new foster parents on their South African ranch are really nice and want him to feel at home. One day, when he discovers an abandoned egg of a fully grown ostrich on the property, his interest is piqued. He learns how to hatch the egg and lovingly raises the little ostrich. From now on, his new best friend „Kobus“ accompanies him everywhere. Not even trouble at school can dampen his spirits, because the afternoons belong to August and his bird alone. However, when August brings his friend to school, the situation takes a dramatic turn. A pupil is bitten by Kobus and the matter is taken to court. August and his foster parents lose the case and have to give the bird to a farm. But August and Kobus flee to the canyons. Nonetheless, Kobus is captured. Now August must venture into the middle of the farm’s ostrich enclosure to save his friend.
