Leonie and Marlene are 18 years old, live in Berlin and are close friends. They think that nothing and no one can separate them. But then Leonie falls in love with Naomi, who is the same age. She throws herself wholeheartedly into her first great love and thus distances herself more and more from Marlene. It soon becomes apparent that Naomi is depressed and needs a lot of attention. She is now studying in Rostock, but feels very lonely there. Out of concern for Naomi, Leonie spends every free minute travelling to see her on the coast, completely losing sight of her friend Marlene. But then Leonie and Naomi break up. Leonie moves to Brandenburg and trains as a gardener. Here in the countryside, she begins to rearrange her life. She painfully realises how much her relationship with Naomi overwhelmed her and how it isolated her from all her friends. After years of estrangement, she finds the courage to reach out to her childhood friend Marlene again. But Marlene is not sure if she can easily reconnect with the feelings she had back then.
