Manas
Young Marcielle, whom everyone calls Tielle, lives with her parents and siblings in a small house on the banks of the Amazon River. She grows up in a religious environment, helps out in her family’s cramped home, and has to deal with serious signs of domestic abuse. With a friend, she has her first teenage experience in a nearby club, and as a saleswoman, she sneaks onto passing barges, which she is actually forbidden to enter. There she meets a man from the south who shows interest in her and calls her „princess“. Without fully understanding it, Marcielle finds herself in a world marked by exploitation, abuse and misogynous violence. A world in which not only she, but also many other women fight for self-determination and survival. Even a policewoman cannot help her escape this world. A spiral of violence tightens around Tielle and the female members of her family. The young woman finally fights back and resorts to drastic measures.
