Brightly Shining
Ronja loves her imaginative and funny father. She and her older sister Melissa dream of a holiday cottage in the woods where everyone feels welcome. A place where their family can function. In reality, their father is unemployed and their mother is absent. When their father gets a job selling Christmas trees, Ronja imagines her future. Will there be fresh juices and maybe even presents? Her sister is sceptical, and her suspicions are confirmed. Their father falls back into old patterns, starts drinking in bars again and sleeps through the day. He doesn’t take Ronja to school, doesn’t cook anymore, doesn’t put her to bed. Luckily, Ronja has friends in her life, and even the strange neighbour gradually becomes a real confidant. Ronja spends a lot of time with Melissa, who takes over the Christmas tree sales, and even gets involved in the business at times. Ronja spends the Lucia festival without her father. When it looks like the family is going to have real problems with social services, she finally decides to give her father a piece of her mind.
