Live for Me
When vivacious Arianne returns to school, the fourteen-year-old proudly announces that she has beaten cancer. On the same day, she meets her new friend Zahra from Afghanistan. Together, they enjoy the best time of their young lives until Arianne learns that the cancer has returned. She only has a few weeks to live. The news hits everyone hard, but Arianne doesn’t give up so easily. She wants to enjoy the time she has left. When she learns that Zahra and her parents are to be deported to their country of origin, she starts a petition with her and writes a letter to the minister in charge. She wants Zahra to take her place. A cancer patient must be heard, she thinks. But the school demonstration in The Hague fails. Even the police get involved. When Zahra’s case ends up in the media, a race against time begins. Arianne is not getting better. But she encourages her friend to continue fighting for her right to stay. When she dies, Zahra has to take control of her own life despite her grief.
