Ariella drinks and smokes like other teenage girls. But this is frowned upon in Israel. Her father is an army officer and reacts with a firm hand to his older daughter’s dissolute lifestyle. He humiliates her by having her spend the night outside the house after she returned home late. Anger is mounting in Ariella due to this injustice.
