From "secret" film gems to sold out screenings?
Introductory presentation by Astrid Aure (Festival Director TIFF Junior - Tromsø Children's Film Festival)
Attracting audiences to original, international and artistically accomplished films – the ones that do not benefit from a famous IP, well-known actors or other common market drivers – is a global challenge. The three most central children’s film festivals in Norway have teamed up in an innovative collaboration to get more people to discover these film gems and the magic of cinema overall. At the SCHLiNGEL INDUSTRY FORUM, they will share their experiences, fresh insights, practical dos and don’ts, and unexpected gains from this year’s editions of Kristiansand IFF and TIFF Junior in Tromso.
Astrid Aure
Astrid is Festival Director for Tromsø International Film Festival's childrren edition, TIFF Junior, and has been working for the festival since 2014. She is responsible for children and youth throughout the year, as well as being Program Director for the Films from the North program at Tromsø International Film Festival. Master’s degree in film science, as well as a degree in Journalism. Solo mum of two young girls.

Alan R. Milligan has produced eight feature films, winning best film awards in Cannes ("Rams" - Un Certain Regard) & Venice ("Flapping in the Middle of Nowhere" - Critic's Week). As a software entrepreneur Alan founded two companies, with one successful exit and a total of seven years as software CEO. Alan is an ACE producer and member of the European Film Academy. He is a proud father of two cool boys.
Mirja Frehse
Mirja Frehse graduated in Film- and TV-Production at the Filmuniversity Babelsberg. After working as Marketing-Manager at the Berlin based X Verleih AG she worked as executive producer for Novotny & Novotny Filmproduktion in Vienna focused on international co-productions for three years. Following her work as consultant for national and international financing for several German and Austrian production companies she started working as funding consultant for the Creative Europe MEDIA Desk Berlin-Brandenburg in 2007.
The Creative Europe Desk Berlin-Brandenburg is one of the five German information offices for the Creative Europe Programme, a programme of the European Union to support culture and media. As a contact point for media professionals mainly based in Berlin-Brandenburg and Central Germany, the Creative Europe Desk team is advising on funding possibilities and assisting with funding applications. In collaboration with international partners the Desk offers information and networking events to support international cooperation amongst professionals. The Creative Europe Desks are designed to assist professionals working in in the creative industries with any questions related to the Creative Europe Programme.
