SCHLiNGEL travels with five productions to Havanna
Even if it seems like things are getting quieter around the SCHLiNGEL outside the festival season, this doesn't mean that there aren't things happening behind the scenes. In addition to the increased screening of films for the upcoming festival edition, we are also travelling abroad with German films. And so our festival director Michael Harbauer is currently in Cuba. The International Educational Film Festival MICE in Havana has been taking place there since 27 March and will continue until 9 April.
Five German films are also part of the festival programme this year. THE ORDINARIES, TALES OF FRANZ, THE LITTLE WITCH, INTO THE BEAT as well as DREAMS ARE LIKE WILD TIGERS are productions that have already been part of past SCHLiNGEL editions, some of them have also won awards. To support the screenings of his film DREAMS ARE LIKE WILD TIGERS, director Lars Montag has also made his way to Cuba. This way he can interact directly with the young audience and experience first-hand how his award-winning film is received abroad.
MICE Cuba is an International Educational Film Festival that will take place for the third time in Havana in 2023. The aim of the festival is to promote audiovisual education for children and young people in Cuba. The German Embassy and the Goethe-Institut are among the co-organisers of the MICE. Our presentation of German films in Cuba is supported by the Saxon State Chancellery, the Mitteldeutsche Medienförderung (MDM) and the Goethe-Institut.
