SCHLiNGEL with German films in Chile
While our SCHLiNGEL programme in Chemnitz includes films from Germany as well as mostly international films, German productions are also part of other international film festivals abroad. For example, the German-Austrian co-production NEW TALES OF FRANZ is currently being shown on the big screen at the Ojo de Pescado film festival in Valparaíso, Chile, presented by SCHLiNGEL.
The Festival Internacional de Cine para Niños, Niñas y Jóvenes - International Film Festival for Children and Young People - Ojo de Pescado has been taking place in Chile for the 13th time since 5 November. Up to and including 15 November, young audiences can look forward to thrilling films at various venues. This year's programme also includes the German-Austrian co-production NEW TALES OF FRANZ by director Johannes Schmid. SCHLiNGEL director Michael Harbauer has travelled to Valparaíso to accompany the presentation of the film and talk to the young audience. This way, viewers can ask all their questions about the film. However, the film will be shown with Spanish subtitles so that they can follow the content beforehand.
"NEW TALES OF FRANZ is a good example of the journey a German film can take once it has been shown in our SCHLiNGEL programme. We have already had the opportunity to show the adventures of young Franz and his friends at festivals around the world. Together with the SCHLiNGEL, the production has travelled to China, Mexico, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Cuba and now Chile this year. We are of course delighted with this positive response," says Michael Harbauer.
In addition to the screenings of NEW TALES OF FRANZ, the German film FRITZI - A REVOLUTIONARY TALE will also be shown in Chile. Michael Harbauer will be showing the production by Ralf Kukula and Matthias Bruhn to mark the fall of the Berlin Wall 35 years ago at the German School in Valparaíso.
The presentation of the German films in Chile is supported by the Mitteldeutsche Medienförderung MDM and the Saxon State Chancellery.
