SCHLiNGEL winner film on the big screen at Estonian film festival
The German production TOMORROW SOMEWHERE BY THE SEA presented by the SCHLiNGEL Film Festival is currently part of the programme of the A-list film festival Black Nights in Tallinn, Estonia. For this reason, director Patrick Büchting and cinematographer Sebastian Berghaus have travelled to the festival. In addition to the film team, SCHLiNGEL director Michael Harbauer is also on site.
The 28th edition of the Youth and Children's Film Festival Just Film has been taking place in Tallinn since 8 November. The festival is part of the Black Nights Film Festival and, as the name suggests, has always been dedicated to productions for young audiences. This year, on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the film export agency German Films and the 25th anniversary of the Goethe-Institut Tallinn, the Black Nights Film Festival has placed a large focus on German film. A total of 18 productions from Germany can therefore currently be seen on the big screen - including TOMORROW SOMEWHERE BY THE SEA, the SCHLiNGEL winner of the Top Award of the City of Chemnitz 2023.
Like the Berlinale, the Black Nights Film Festival is one of the 15 A-list film festivals worldwide that are nominated by FIAPP. "It is a great honour for us as SCHLiNGEL to have been invited to present our winning film TOMORROW SOMEWHERE BY THE SEA in Tallinn, and to be part of this special focus on the German film scene", says SCHLiNGEL director Michael Harbauer.
The audience of the Youth and Children's Film Festival Just Film can therefore look forward to TOMORROW SOMEWHERE BY THE SEA. Director Patrick Büchting and cameraman Sebastian Berghaus have travelled to Tallinn for the film. They answered questions from the young audience live in the cinema and talked about their film. In addition, Patrick Büchting is also part of the Industry Days and will speak together with other representatives of the film industry on the topic of German film funding by the federal and state governments in the context of co-productions.
SCHLiNGEL director Michael Harbauer is also on site at Just Film. Now that this year's SCHLiNGEL is over, the search for films for the upcoming 30th festival edition begins. To this aim, Michael Harbauer and the other members of our programme committee are also screening at other film festivals, such as the current one in Tallinn. The focus there is also on exchanging ideas with the film and festival industry.
The presentation of the German production is supported by the Saxon State Chancellery, the Mitteldeutsche Medienförderung MDM and the Goethe-Institut Tallinn.
