SCHLINGEL Film Festival curates German Focus in New Delhi
SCHLINGEL CEO Michael Harbauer is currently in New Delhi to present German productions at the International Children's and Youth Film Festival "Smile". Both festivals have been cooperating for a year now, after Michael Harbauer and the festival director of "Smile", Jitendra Mishra, met at the world's largest children's film festival "Golden Elephant" in Hyderabad.
The Awardees of the 23 IFF SCHLINGEL
# The festival attracted about 25,000 visitors
# Main Prizes go to India, South Africa und Iceland
# 10 juries awarded 18 prizes worth all together 64,000 Euros -> Most of them are given as supporting awards, i.e. the prize money has to be used for a dubbed version to make the film available for the German audience.
# The festival screened a total of 235 productions from 51 countries, 124 films in competition

The Professional Jury Short and Animated Film, consisting of Christoph Bauer (Halle/Saale), Rolf Birn (Dresden), Anne King (Leipzig) and Ines Wolter (Chemnitz), presented the following short film awards:

The best European youth film of the year will be selected on 6 May 2018. Young people from 45 cities in 36 countries will screen three films that are running parallel in those different places of the world. At the end, they choose the winner of the 7th EFA Young Audience Award.

After festival director Michael Harbauer promoted the IFF SCHLINGEL at children's and youth film festivals in Canada and the United States in March, two further foreign presentations are scheduled for next week.

The preparations for the 23rd International Film Festival for Children and Young Audience SCHLINGEL are in full progress. At the beginning of October, it will show more than 150 short and long feature and animation films from all over the world in Chemnitz.
