FOCUS SWEDEN

Hardly any other country in Europe can look back on such a large and traditional production of children’s and youth films as Sweden. They were also represented at the International Film Festival SCHLiNGEL during the course of many years and have led to the focus on this Scandinavian country in 2019. Next to three brand-new feature / animated films and two short films in the main programme, 13 productions from the years 1977 to 2015 will be shown.
Beside this, the illustrator and creator of the children’s book series “Pettson and Findus”, Sven Nordqvist, will receive a special honor. For decades, his stories about the inventive Pettson and his unconventional and curious tomcat Findus have been warming the hearts of many generations across countries in books, on stage and in the cinema. This is not only due to the location amid idyllic nature, but also to the lovable coexistence of the characters. The community, in which no one is left alone, forms a safe haven in which secureness, respect and understanding guide the fairway of life.
