Original title: Amelie rennt
German title: Amelie rennt
“I can instantly think of 20 other people whom asthma would suit much better,” says 13-year-old Amelie, a cheeky lass from Berlin and the most stubborn girl in the world. But unfortunately, she of all people has caught this malicious, life-threatening disease. After Amelie once again suffered a severe seizure, the doctors send her to a lung clinic in South Tyrol. There in the mountains she is to recover and learn techniques that make her breathing easier. Amelie, however, continues to ignore her illness and does not let anybody help her. One evening she runs away from the therapy centre and escapes into the mountains, where absolutely no one expects her. In the middle of the Alps, she meets 15-year-old Bart, a quiet, straightforward farm boy. When this weird companion rescues her life, she confides in him. Bart is not only familiar with nature; he also knows the secrets of the mountains and the magical powers of the traditional mountain fire. Together they decide to climb the mountain peak and hurl themselves into an adventure that will change Amelie’s life forever.
