Chucks
Original title: Chucks
German title: Chucks
16-year-old punk and school dropout Mae roams the streets of Vienna with her clique spray-painting walls and trains at the station. She lives on canned beer and whatever she “acquires gratuitously” at the supermarket. She tries her hand at poetry slams, always wearing the bright red Chucks of her elder brother, still not having overcome his death. She cannot talk to anyone about this tragic event, and certainly not to her mother, who has withdrawn completely since then. When Mae is caught in a graffiti action by the police one night and sentenced to community service at an AIDS center, she meets Paul, five years her senior. Paul is a photographer and affected with AIDS. He knows that he will not live much longer, and therefore wants to enjoy every moment intensely. Here and now! Soon Mae falls in love with this man, who has lost most of his friends due to his illness. So the dropout and the outcast spend a short time of happiness together, which they enjoy to the fullest, and which encourages them in their being and doing.
