Shortly before Christmas, a wild snowstorm rages across the country, so Pettson and tomcat Findus cannot leave their small, red wooden house. But so much has to be done for the feast! The larder is empty, the Christmas tree has not yet been felled and no gifts have been made. Luckily the next morning, the drifting snow has ceased, so the two of them can go out into the forest with their sledge and get a fir tree. This is going to be the most wonderful Christmas ever! But things turn out very differently: Pettson sprains his ankle and cannot walk anymore. They return home without a tree. And instead of going shopping, the old man has to put his foot up. If only stubborn Pettson would let himself be helped by attentive Beda or by grumpy, but actually quite nice Gustavsson! But no, he would rather forego “the best Christmas ever”. Only when Findus bursts with anger, Pettson agrees to craft a Christmas tree and prepare a carrot feast.
