German title: Heidi
High up in the Swiss mountains, in a secluded wooden hut, there is the home of withdrawn Alm-Uncle, Heidi’s grandfather. The eight-year-old orphan girl is to stay with him against his will. While Heidi immediately feels comfortable in the open country and soon befriends slightly older Peter the goatherd, it takes a while until Alm-Uncle becomes fond of his granddaughter. Now Heidi’s happiness is complete. She has finally found a beautiful home. After one year, Aunt Dete reappears and secretly takes her niece to the wealthy Sesemann family living in Frankfurt, where Heidi is to take care of Klara, a girl confined to a wheelchair. It is hard for Heidi to get used to the strict rules of their nanny Miss Rottenmeier, sitting still, the boring lessons of the tutor and the constant confinement to the vast, dark house. Although she and Klara become best friends, the child of nature is longing to get back to her grandfather and the mountains until she finally falls sick with homesickness...
