The kindergarten kids Rieke, Max, Lene, Paul, Suse and Ben live in Bollersdorf. Bollersdorf is famous; it is said to be the “most normal place” across the country and its residents are considered to be “German average citizens”. The adults are very proud of this. And they particularly appreciate that Bollersdorf has been selected to test all possible new goods. Only the children are fed up with constantly acting as guinea pigs for the “Consumer Research Society”. They want put an end to these strange happenings in Bollersdorf and set a world record in order to break the average and thus chase away the research people. But the parents keep getting in their way. When they send all grannies and granddads into the nursing home for the sake of statistics, Rieke, Max, Lene, Paul, Suse and Ben have a plan: They immobilise the adults with sleeping pills and tinker with the craziest inventions seizing all they need including a fire truck, the garbage truck or a locomotive. But one invention after the other fails and there is a huge mess in Bollersdorf. Now, only the grandmas and grandpas can help, who in turn are glad to escape the boring life in the nursing home.
