Tom Sawyer

The remake of the classic youth book “The Adventures of Tom Sawyer” by Mark Twain from 1876 is also set in the fictional town of St. Petersburg on the Mississippi river, where cheeky and ingenious Tom lives with his half-brother Sid and their strict and pious aunt Polly. His best friend is the orphan boy Huck Finn, who lives in a barrel on the outskirts and is constantly on the hunt for adventures, just like him. No wonder, the two boys are wandering in the cemetery on a dark night. Involuntarily they watch frightful Injun Joe commit a murder. Out of fear the boys swear “not to tell anyone or drop down dead and rot”. But Injun Joe casts suspicion on the good-natured, drunken coffin-maker Muff Potter, who is jailed and sentenced to be hanged for the murder after his conviction. Now Tom has to choose: just running away with Huck to Tierra del Fuego, or should he help the innocent boozer, thus exposing himself, his family and his best friend to great danger?
