When We Own the World

Richy and Tim, both 16 years old, and 18-year-old Marco are three loners from a small East German town. Richy admires the strong, reserved Marco initially from a distance. When the opportunity arises, he wins Marco’s attention by expressing his interest in shifting glasses, martial arts and Satan visions. Richy invites Tim, who comes from a wealthy home, to join them because he suspects that Tim is looking for company too. The usually cool Tim is also fascinated by the paranormal. Together, the three boys get into the fantasy of being chosen by Satan as his warriors in the struggle for world domination. With their newly acquired "Satan forces" the three boys feel superior to their surroundings and experience a stormy phase of friendship. Richy wins self-confidence by this cohesion. But gradually, they have to experience how their homespun world comes up against limitations. This is particularly painful for Marco. He had firmly intended to get the confused coordinates of his life back under control through the "line to Satan". But when he is shown up by his arch-rival Ronnie in a disco, an even more radical thought is growing inside Marco. They should go down to Satan in order to more effectively wage war from there.
